SPORTING &  COMPANION DOG TRAINING PROGRAM DATES

"Thali attended QK boot camp, complete on and off leash training, in October 2019. We adopted Thali in 2017 from a rescue that took her from an abusive, neglectful place. Prior to bringing her to your care, she was extremely anxious, reactive and destructive. We couldn't bring her anywhere, have her around people outside our family or leave her home alone due to her anxiety and fear based aggression. Thali was taking fluoxetine daily and trazadone for stressful events like going to the vet. Thali excelled at QK, she loved the work and attention she received. I have to admit, leaving our terrified dog somewhere for several weeks was hard for us, but her life is all the better for it. Since graduating, we take her on walks and off leash runs without worry of her becoming fearful of sounds or people we may pass. One of the most special moments was recently on our sons birthday party. At the party she was completely independent, off leash enjoying the company of our friend's, family and neighbors. We had a volunteer firefighter bring a fire truck to the party as well. The whole event would have otherwise terrified Thali. She walked up to the firefighter confidently and received a pet as she proudly sat next to him. It's such a joy to have her experience life as a part of our family! I'm happy to report that even 5 years later, Thali is off of all medication related to anxiety and all destructive behaviors are behind us. She is as happy and confident as ever. None of this would have been possible without Quinebaug Kennels and we couldn't be more thankful! A trained dog truly does live a fullfilled, happy life!
